summer's almost here!

we loved the sunshine and warm weather this weekend, no one more than Kayla.

Here she is with mommy, looking cool in her hat and shades

frozen teethers are her favorite!

It was daddy and Kayla time this morning as mommy went to the spa for a much needed retreat! Daddy took Kayla for a walk on the Seal Beach pier to drink smoothies and people watch!

isn't she growing up so fast?!

A visit to baby Avery and her parents!

On Saturday we went to Cliff and Shell's place to visit their new 2 month-old, Avery. Boy she is a cutie! Unfortunately, we didn't get many pictures of the little one since she was either eating or being rocked to sleep during our whole visit.

Kayla during the car ride over - she smiles a lot now, much to mommy and daddy's pleasure!

Shell with baby Avery

Hamming it up for the camera

Their dog, Meeka, sizes Kayla up to see if she'd make a nice meal

Fortunately for us, when Kayla doesn't back down easily Meeka realizes that it isn't worth the battle!

Kayla is already a daddy's girl

Uncle Cliff trying to get our daughter to fall for the oldest trick in the book...."hey Kayla, pull my finger!" Pick on someone your own size Cliff!

eating is messy work!

it's always an adventure with Kayla at every meal. she is very expressive with food and drink - putting veggies in her hair, pouring water down the side of her highchair, or trying to feed herself 4 or more cheerios at once.

here she is playing tag with her water cup (not it!)

here she is pretending to feed me....at the last second she pulls the cheerio away, feeds herself instead, and laughs in my face!

our little athlete

Kayla hard at work practicing for the world power lifting competition in the babies 12 months and under category.

Stretching out after the grueling practice.

a non-Mattel toy!

Kayla's new favorite toy is made by one of mommy's work competitors. Not that I can complain....it keeps her happy and quiet for long periods of time!

Whatch'ya Lookin' At Willis?!

A girl of many emotions, one of Kayla's favorite is the half smug grin, half dirty look gaze I like to call the 'Kayla Stare'. Here are a few of her looks from this past week. Too bad the camera doesn't do her justice, she is one sassy girl.

It's spring and home improvement time is upon us!

Greg and I have a list of...oh...about 30 things we would like to do to the house and around the house. My goal is to do about 5 per year. Got one big thing checked off our list last weekend ~ a new side gate and enclosed porch! I wish I took a good picture of our old gate, which was an old rotting piece of wood that I'm fairly certain had been there since the house was built in 1960. It was so decrepit that everytime we opened it, we were scared it would just buckle under the pressure and completely collapse. I'm soooo happy about our new gate!

A visit from Auntie Debbie!

Last weekend we had the honor of getting a long awaited visit from Debbie and Nick. They had fun playing with Kayla (and Stoli) and at night I got to go out to Brazilian BBQ Buffet with them (mmmm, meat!) and out to a fun bar in the LBC afterwards. I think I even stayed out till 12am - which was probably a record for me....I haven't done that since before Kayla was born!

Thanks for the visit guys!

Mommy and Daddy sure are cheap!

From the looks of it, you'd think we were depriving poor Kayla of toys. But really she just loves playing with household objects more than anything else. A few examples...

But look I swear she has plenty of toys!
