Ni Hao, World!

It seems as though Kayla learns and explores new things each day. Lately she's gotten into cartoons - well, for about 5-10 minutes at a time before she loses interest. Just in case the mood strikes her, we keep dozens of Dora the Explorers, and her new favorite Nick program, Ni Hao Kai Lan, on hand via DVR. We love that both of these programs offer bilingual learning, especially because neither Greg nor I can really speak a 2nd language well enough to teach little Kayla.

Here she is watching Kai Lan

And sometimes she likes to lay and lounge as she watches, love it!

Kayla is officially walking!

Sorry this post isn't exactly timely, but just over two weeks ago (8.9.08 to be exact) Kayla took her first unassisted steps! Yes, she took her time doing so at almost 14 months, but I like to reason that just like mommy, she likes to take it easy on the physical activity and instead enjoys more cerebral pursuits like practicing her speaking and reading skills :)

Here are a few shots of her first few times walking - we got it on video too, yay!

Vegas baby!

A bunch of us mainly college friends just got back from Susie's bachelorette party over the weekend. Good times were had by all!

We started out with just the four of us - Susie, me, Zan (her high school friend), and Ames

We shopped, had dinner at Mario Batali's yummy new restaurant, Enoteca San Marco, and then some drinks at the Wynn.

Susie looking impatient...

The pool was sooo busy! Little did they know that just a few short hours before the pool had to be cleared out and chlorined to death because someone threw up in the pool. Gross!

Here's some of the gals in our spacious suite at the Palazzo. Love the rooms!

We played a funny game where Sus had to guess who gave her what pair of (NEW!) underwear. Everytime she got it wrong we made her do, say, or sing something funny

We took Susie to Thunder Down Under, the Australian male review show. We hated to admit it but though it was cheesy, it was actually entertaining!

Time to go home! Traci, Susie, Amy, and I had a flight scheduled for 6pm. Like good girls we got there 2 hours ahead of time, only to find out our plane had been delayed, until 9:30! We walked around the airport aimlessly for over 5 hours. Thankfully, we had good food (Ruby's), entertainment (Hudson News was our friend) and of course, each other.

The OC Fair!

Last week we took Kayla to the OC fair - it was really fun but hot, hot, HOT!

I couldn't believe all the fried food they offered. Fried twinkies, fried oreos, fried frog legs, just to name a few!
