The Cardinals got robbed!

On Sunday we had a small Superbowl party at our place. It was so fun to decorate and have people over! We had Mexican street tacos (the small ones with onions and cilantro and white cotija cheese) and we bought the meat from a yummy Mexican market close by. So good. We had a great time visiting with everyone, and we even had a little poker tourney after the game. Greg came in second. Our friend Sandra won the big pot. I placed a respectable 3rd, maybe my highest showing ever :)

One of the most fun parts was trying to make our own football field decoration! I must be honest and say that 90% of the work was done by Greg, turns out he's very creative AND very perfection-oriented, a lethal combo in the crafting world. I recently told Greg that one of my favorite Superbowl memories from when I was young was going over to a family friend's house seeing homemade decorations like a football field tablecloth and little football players made out of paper and popsicle sticks. Well the night before the party Greg surprised me with the materials to make our very own football field! Here it is in all it's glory....

Yes, I swear to you we made it with our blood, sweat, and tears.

The evidence...

The obligatory cheesy pose next to my contribution - graffiti writing on our other tablecloth

We bought a little game where you hit the football guy's head to make him kick the ball. Obligatory cheesy pose #2. Can you see the ball? I think Greg even scored a field goal in this shot.

Time to party!

Little miss Avery loved exploring everything!

It's really hard to look cool in 3D glasses. Fortunately everything looks better in a group. These guys actually looked pretty cool!

My mom was like a human jungle gym!

As suspected, the kids enjoyed the toys more than the game.

Good times! Too bad the Cards lost. Amazingly everyone at the party was rooting for them!

My first Jamba Juice

She loves it!

Happy (really late) birthday Attie!

My good friend Joy's daughter Attie had her first birthday on Jan 20th. She had a great party at their house to celebrate. It's weird to see we both have kids now - my my we've become such 'grown-ups'!

Kayla and Attie playing near each other (clear distinction from "with each other" - I'm told in the child development books this doesn't happen till after 2 years old)

Here's the 4 of us...

Kayla and Attie hug! You have to look really hard to spot Attie, it looks like she's being clobbered by Kayla. Sorry Attie. That does not look too comfortable.

Me and Susie. Susie likes to attend kids' parties to remind herself that maybe she does want to wait a bit longer before taking the leap into the craziness of parenthood.
